I am absolutely elated to share my guest for today’s show! As a business owner myself, I am beyond grateful to receive the expertise of Dr. Regina Groff, a coach, leader and trainer extraordinaire! She is the founder of CommissionED, an organization that focuses on learning and development, team development, and organizational capacity building.

A Mindset of Lifelong Learning
During our conversation, Dr. Groff emphasized the importance of lifelong learning. I love how she takes such pride and value in creating effective learning strategies by taking time to understand each individual's learning journey and experiences. This resonated with me as I reflected on my own journey of learning and growth. We agreed that learning is not limited to formal education but encompasses curiosity, problem-solving, and continuous self-teaching.
Dr. Regina Groff encourages listeners to embrace the mindset of "learning to learn" and to be open to new discoveries, even if they are small. Learning is essential for emotional, social, psychological, and physical well-being. This mindset is not only beneficial for personal growth but also for maintaining a vibrant life after 40!
Learning in Everyday Life
I know how busy life can get as a Mom. This was such a funny part of our conversation as we discussed how we find a way to “escape our children” for some quick quiet self-care or learning time. Do not feel bad about this if you find yourself hiding as well - it’s absolutely necessary! However, using this quiet time wisely is key.
Dr. Groff acknowledges that finding time for learning can be challenging, especially for busy moms. However, she shares her personal experience of using her children's activities, like soccer practice, as an opportunity to learn more about the sport. She believes that we often underestimate the learning that happens in our daily lives, whether it's from our children, family, or even our hobbies.
Setting Boundaries and Pursuing Purpose
Our conversation also touched on the importance of setting boundaries and pursuing one's purpose. Dr. Regina Groff discusses how women often struggle with prioritizing their own interests and dreams while taking care of their families and meeting societal expectations. She invites us to build boundaries before reaching a point of burnout to ensure continued growth and fulfillment.
She also suggests reconnecting with one's childhood self and the sense of purpose and dreams you once had. Reflect on moments when you felt alive and on track, even during difficult times. If you had a challenging childhood, she suggests finding moments later in life when purpose was felt. Remembering these moments can help reignite a sense of purpose and motivation.
