Episode #52: Money, Food, and Manifestation with Liz Wolfe

In this episode…

Liz Wolfe is here! She is a business coach, author, and speaker who coaches entrepreneurs to get unstuck so that they can launch and grow an abundant business. Liz got her entrepreneurial start growing up on a sheep farm in Western Pennsylvania with her mother and two sisters. Later she moved to NYC, where she created a successful computer consulting business with her husband, Jon.

Eventually Liz transitioned out of the technology business to coaching business owners to develop an abundance mindset. She recently published a book, “The Power of Asking: How Your Reluctance to Ask Puts Your Business at Risk.”

Analyzing Our Own Approach and Mindset

In our conversation, Liz mentions that she believes there is an unhealthy way to approach money and health. When it comes to the intersection of the two, one thing we can take into consideration is short versus long term satisfaction.

So often we have as I describe a “teenaged mind” where we indulge in spontaneous behavior. I ask, “Why don't we always do the things that we know we're supposed to be doing?” Liz points out that it may be because we prefer to prioritize immediate gratification, even if it doesn't guarantee anything beneficial in the long run.

Liz’s Business Coaching Strategy

Liz’s business coaching method is a three-part system. First, have a clear vision. Second, find strategic action. And thirdly, uncover the hidden barriers and mindset issues you may have. You will see results if you try each step in order!

Business building may feel very frustrating in the beginning because you want it to grow faster. However, Liz makes an analogy that growing a business is like growing a garden. It’s complex and it takes time. My favorite Liz quote that I often hear is, “It takes the time it takes.”

Planning and Manifestation

As we further discuss the intersection of money and food, Liz points out that planning is a huge tool. When starting a business, she advises us to vision a road map and plan out the next 5 years. Doing so will help you move in the right direction and then you can make adjustments as you go. It is also important to take things step by step, making incremental progress.

Manifestation is about seeking out the things you want. The first step is to ask powerfully for what you want. Then, think about your ability to achieve that outcome.

Liz reminds us that abundance is not what you acquire; It's what you tune into. One way we limit ourselves is that we don’t imagine creatively. There’s so much abundance around us, and yet we are so conditional when receiving things that we often repel exactly what we want.
